Sangai is the name of a deer found naturally only in Manipur. And the largest circulated daily in manipur (ie. my place), has named it’s newspaper after that deer, “The Sangai Express“. It’s the only paper from Manipur which has got a website of it’s own. But if you visit the original website of the Sangai Express which is at http://www.thesangaiexpress.com, you’ll immediately see that that’s not maintained very professionally. But what I’m doing here is not complaining about that. Manipur is a small place and i know how things work there. Just the fact that they have managed to have an online version of the newspaper is a praiseworthy effort. Being a Manipuri myself, I wanted to make that site better.
So I thought how can such a sight be maintained nicely keeping in mind the limitation of technical skills, budget etc. The best solution I had in mind was by using a content management system (CMS) like Joomla. I chose Joomla 1.5 and started out the experiment. I built the entire site. I installed some interesting components, modules and plugins (though they are hard to find for Joomla 1.5 right now) and added many new features. I added chatting and forum to the site. I worked on that site exclusively for two days. That explains why I’ven’t written any blog in the last few days. Now you can see the test site at http://www.thesangaiexpress.designspebam.com/
Finally I composed a mail giving a proposal of redesigning their website to the authorities of Sangai Express. I offered my help in doing that in all possibles ways I could. But it turned out that the email id that is given as contact in their existing website does not work. Imagine my dismay.
I then called up my sister back there at my home and asked her to find the contact email from the hard copy of the newspaper that’s published there. (I live in Bangalore which is another city in India far away from Manipur). She gave me the contact emails and I sent my mails on that ID. It’s been almost three days and I’ven’t got a reply. I just pray they check their mails regularly. But I’m not very sure.

Yeah!! My Artrage Rampage still continues….
I’ve been working almost every free minute playing with artrage. I hate to work with my mouse when it comes to Artrage. But I’ve no other choice. I tried to find out how much those Wacom tablet costs. Well, it’s clearly out of my budget as of now until I join my job in August.
Well here’s a piece I was artraging this afternoon. I wanted to put a leaf. Still trying to figure out a nice way to put. it. Will update on it later wen I put that leaf.

Yeah, as I was saying in my earlier posts, my latest passion is working with Artrage. I’ve been experimenting with colours and it’s really fun. Here’s one more exploration with colours. I’m thinking of refining it. But as of now it’s this way.

I’ve been experimenting with Artrage and have been really busy with it. I even joined a forum where people post what works they have done with that software. Here are some of the works that I’ve done.

I have had this software, Artrage for quite some time. I once even installed it and tried a little out. But never seriously thought of doing something in it. But today I got in the mood and prepared the following in 15 mins.

If you enjoy searching out Funny Pictures from the internet and sharing them with your friends, here is one more really good site which you can add to your list of sources. The blogger has collected quite a number of funny and interesting pictures with witty paragraphs accompanying all of them. Some of the posts that I loved in the funny section category are his posts on “Funny pictures of civilization without oil”, “Random funny pictures are good for health”, “Amazing street art”, “Funny cat Pictures etc”.
This blogger also posts on other topics like Affiliate Marketing, Blogging Tips, Funny, Lifestyle, Make Money Online, SEO, Social Networks and Technology. There are some useful post in the Blogging tip section also.
The blog is owned by Jean-Stephan. He’s really made his blog popular. If you visit the bio page in his blog, you’ll find out the details of how he’s managed to get to the top 100 in the Alexa ranking without the help of paid advertising in just one month after the launch of his blog. He also reached google page one search result in just 60 days after launch. With such statisctics, I guess you already realize how popular his blog already is. So I don’t need to try any more to convince you that he has quality content in his blog. Pay a visit soon.

I was really impressed by the way the Blog Only in Silence is maintained. The blog is owned by a lady called Abelle, a 31-year old wife and mother from Manila, Philippines. She’s a very interesting person herself, that you’ll find out if you check out her Morning prayer that goes something like this
Her Morning Prayer
Please grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I cannot accept, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of those people I had to kill because they pissed me off.
And also, help me to be careful of the toes I step on today as they may be connected to the ass that I may have to kiss tomorrow.
But that’s only where the fun start in her blog. Many of her posts are pictorial posts in which she posts just picture and the sequence of pictures tells you an interesting or funny story like her latest post (as of now) on how you can find out whether you’ve a smelly feet or not.
She’s also posted funny and witty posts. One that I really enjoyed was “Men’s Pick-up lines destruction”. It’s a list of witty retorts a woman can give to the very common pick-up lines men use. The post goes in favour of the females of our species probably because the author is herself one.
She also seems very environment conscious (and I really like her for that) as she has posted lot many posts on how to contribute to saving the earth. many of such posts are really like fun facts and proves useful in practical ways. Like whether to use electric hot air hand dryer or use toilet papers in public toilets to dry your hands? The answer is use the electric dryer as it consumes lesser energy than transporting the waste toilet paper and recycling it and finally bringing it back to the usable form to the service point.
There’s so many more interesting things to talk about in her blog. But I can’t be covering all of her hard works in compiling them them in just one single post. So you should pay a visit yourself and check it out!!
